When I first chose Mike Spector as the educational theorist that I would write about, I had no idea that I had so much in common with him. We are the same age and both of us were Air Force officers during the Vietnam war. We both took a circuitous route to get to where we are. Both of our paths lead through education and computer science.Mike is doing what I would like to be doing right now at this time. I do not suppose to have the intelligent that Mike possesses, but I see many chances that I squandered because of fear, low self-image, or lack of initiative (sometimes pronounced "laziness). Mike took chances and "took the road less traveled". I more often took the well-worn or safe road.
Mike is more of a philosopher than I am. But I sense in him a constant internal questioning and resistance to fully accepting any theory or philosophy as the total answer. Although he advocates system-dynamics-based learning environments, he still challenges researches to prove its effectiveness.
When I grow up (and I'm only 62) I want to be like Mike!
